Why colleagues nominated Sophie
The first quarterly update under Making Tax Digital for Income Tax was due by 7 August 2026, and those quarterly updates sit alongside the annual tax return, which is still required. July was the month the team got ready for it.
Colleagues praised Sophie for the fresh thinking she brings to her work, particularly the practical solutions she found in the software the team relies on. In the Making Tax Digital training sessions she asked great questions and made points that benefited everyone attending, and she contributed just as much in team meetings and the team’s online groups.
She remains very helpful to her colleagues while managing her own portfolio, and colleagues noted a marked improvement in how proactively she manages it. When she has a query for someone else, she comes prepared with her own thoughts and a suggested solution rather than passing the problem on.
